  1. Four Most Critical Issues facing SAUFF
    1. Worlds 2008

Now that SA had qualified for Worlds 2008, our primary focus needed to be the selection of a team that could win Worlds 2008 in Venezuela and what we needed to do to support our team.

1.      Trials to select the team should be held in November/December 2007 to give those selected sufficient time to get sponsorships, raise money, prepare themselves and have sufficient time for scouting. SA selectors would organize such trials with help from SAUFF Committee.

a.       Selectors would invite top divers(about 15) to participate in trials.

b.      An entry fee of say R300 per diver would be used towards the entrance fee for Worlds.

c.       1st Trial would be held off Scottburgh for say 2 days and if necessary another would be scheduled for the Eastern Cape.

d.      If possible there should be one diver per boat

e.       If we can raise enough money we should consider sending a team of 6 (six), which is what most of the top nations do.

2.      BA would immediately place the names of those who were already registered with CMAS as our provisional team for Worlds on the CMAS website. This would ensure that the organizers would keep us informed of all issues related to Worlds.

3.      As of now SAUFF would begin a fund raising campaign to raise at least R100000 to try and alleviate the financial pressures that our teams were faced with when trying to compete internationally.

    1. Registration of Clubs/Divers

This process was underway. BA had drawn up rules/benefits for the registration of CLUBS and INDIVIDUALS. Minor modifications were agreed, see below and these would be sent to Mark Jackson for incorporation in website. It was agreed that it should begin asap and that the introductory offer of R100 per Individual and R500 per club be used initially, and that this fee be reviewed based on the uptake from the diving community.

NOTE: Any diver who wishes to participate in trials to select next years team for Worlds will be required to have a National Registration Number (NRN).

    1. Finances

Current Bank Balance was R 3416 (see attached Income/Expenditure)

BA was reimbursed for Zone Qualifier Entrance Fee and CMAS registrations

Agreed that we would pay the Annual Subscription of R1000 to SA Sport and Sea Federation along with R300 for 100 members.

Agreed that we would pay R350 for the subscription to SAMLMA (see below)

    1. Nationals 2008

BA had a letter from Parks Board to Midlands advising that we would only be able to have 20 boats and 60 divers at Sodwana. RC would investigate as we needed at least 30 boats and 100 divers.

Overseas teams would be invited.

BA would present “Rules for the Organization of Nationals at Next Meeting”. They would apply retrospectively to next years event.

Agreed that there would be separate events for Team and Individuals, 2 days each with Individual days being reduced first if poor conditions prevail.
